For almost 20 years I have been setting goals.
5 Year goals.
After visiting Japan and finding out that Tokyo has a 500 year city plan (amazing!) I even wrote up my 100 year plan. You’ve heard it before but “If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time (Zig Ziglar)”.
It’s not that I hit every goal I set but I definitely would not have completed multiple marathons, traveled to Hawaii with the family (2 years of savings!) spoken/performed to a million plus people, date nights with my wife for 21 years, traveled to all 50 states (22 of those with my family), and tons of other things. Goals help me to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. I want to make the greatest impact I possibly can through Christ using my gifts and talents. I believe goal setting helps me to achieve the things that God has called me to do.
Here is a verse that I continue to apply as I set my goals.
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.”
– Proverbs 16:3
Today I started a 100 day journey of the things that I want to accomplish before Thanksgiving.
If you have never written down your goals, I want to challenge you to write up a list and decide on the top 3 goals you want to accomplish before the end of the year. You can email them to me at firstname.lastname@example.org or put them in the comments below. I would love to see what impact you can make on God’s Kingdom by setting goals.
That’s it for now. Until next time . . .
