SPREAD SOME LOVE
People ask me all the time, “Has a trick ever gone wrong.” Yes, it happens but the worst was when I was doing an underwater escape.
I was in New York, doing Houdini’s famous underwater milk-can escape. When you are doing an escape like this you need to be perfectly focused. Failure to focus will lead to death.
I thought I was going to lose my life that night. I was underwater when I realized I’ve been down here for over a minute and I still haven’t got out of the first set of handcuffs. There was no way I could escape. For the first time, I would have to use the emergency code. I pounded the inside of the chamber with a handcuff and hoped my partner heard me and would get me out in time. Frantically, I start hitting the inside of the chamber harder and harder. I remember in training for this piece, that worse case scenario, I could try to tilt my head back and bring my lips to the top of the lid and try to get air. When I did this, I sucked in water. I knew this was it.
Just then, Jeremiah lifted the lid and pulled me out. It never felt so good to breathe.
Sometimes life feels like this. You are underwater one moment and enjoying every breath the next.
Life is complicated. This week our middle son will graduate high school and head off to college. Our daughter will head to high school and our oldest will return to college in the fall. As we have two kids in college now, we have no idea how God is going to provide for us. We are excited and scared about the unknown. We know many of you can relate to the scary and unknown. But we all know… God is good… All the time… and All the time… God is good!
